What is a Nursing Assistant?
The certified nursing assistant (CNA) is a vital worker in the allied healthcare field. CNAs are healthcare workers who deliver basic nursing care to patients, residents and clients. Essentially, the CNA is supervised by licensed nurses as they assist patients with daily care tasks such as getting dressed, bathing, showering, meal service, toileting, measuring vital signs, and reporting changes in condition.
The CNA is the fundamental backbone of the direct care staff team at almost any hospital, healthcare center or skilled nursing facility. Nursing assistants, also known as nurses' aides and patient care assistants, provide direct patient care at the bedside. TSC Career Institute provides state-approved CNA training to prepare learners for a career as a Dallas/Fort Worth nurse aide in 3 weeks.
CNA Requirements
CNA Course
This is a comprehensive 100hr course 40 are clinical hours designed to teach students the skills and abilities essential to the provision of basic care to patients and residents in hospitals and long-term care facilities. The student will learn how to administer First Aid, perform CPR, check vital signs, and many other essential skills required to be licensed as a CNA. In order to be licensed, students must take the Texas Nurse Aide exam ($125-not included in the tuition). The written exam may be taken in English or Spanish, and the skills will be performed in English as requested by an examiner.
Tuition and fees
The total cost is $1050. You may pay $100 to start, and the rest may be made in payments. This includes the application fee, tuition, detailed online portal, and criminal background check. Optional textbook and state exam ($125.00 exam fee paid to PROMETRIC) are not included.
